The shape of this blade is typical of butchering kives. This is a beefed up version more akin to our trade knife (elsewhere). Hand forged steel, a flat bevel and a keen edge. The grip is nicely stained ash secured with brass pins. Includes a handmade black leather sheath with a leather "belt-hook" for tucking into a sash or belt. This is the kind of knife that would have been traded to the Native Americans by the early European and American traders.
