With its long, tapering blade, heavy wheel pommel, and simple downturned crossguard, this sword is typical of single handed Oakeshott type XVIIIa sword.
Slim and quick, it was designed to combat the mostly maille and early plate armour of the late 13th century with a hard thrust.
The grip is crafted of a hardwood core wrapped in a leather cord and covered in leather for a comfortable and secure grip.
The point on this sword is very sharp and actually thins very little to maintain its strength. This sword now comes with a short fuller.
